Frank Elinam Cobbinah, known in showbiz circles as Atumpan with his hit single ‘The Thing’ which has captured the hearts of both young and old in Africa is once again set to release the reloaded version of the ‘The Thing’ after the demand for the song by fans tripled outside Ghana. The pop version of the song as titled “THE THING RELOADED” features another rising star CABUM from Kumasi, who recently also featured on Lousika’s hit single, HANDS UP.
Under the management of 2131RECORDS, which seeks to promote Ghanaian music and artiste both locally and internationally, Atumpan is set to release an Afro beat version of ‘The Thing’ in London, UK on the 14th of July 2012 at Somersethouse. The event, proudly organized by DJ Abrantee, is set to thrill the audience to a night of afrobeats.
‘The Thing’ which was recorded on 7th January 2011 and released in Ghana on the 25th of the same month, spread worldwide. In Canada, the demand for the artiste was overwhelming. This followed up as far as Finland, Netherlands, China, UK and the US. The UK fan base went wild with the THE THING. Whiles the world was enjoying the music even to the extent of a tweet by Manchester United defender, RIO FERDINAND as his song of the day.
Meanwhile in Ghana, the song came under severe criticism from the some sections of the public because of its lyrical content. Therefore even though it had three nominations in the just ended VGMA’s, he never took home an award. Atumpan was optimistic about the future.
Atumpan has so far collaborated with the likes of Cabo Snoop, Ginalee, VIP, Stay Jay, D.cryme among others. Nevertheless, Atumpan who is highly rated and recognized outside Ghana has attracted so much attention. DLA, a well-established record label in the UK in partnership with 2131RECORDS now run the artiste locally and internationally.
