The Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Samuel Awuku, says President Mills' action year is long overdue as Ghanaians await the time to cast out his administration.
He expressed categorically that the NDC government will be ousted out of power during the 2012 elections, hence, giving them an ultimatum to fulfil their promises to Ghanaians by December this year.
He said that President Mills has only paid a lipservice to his "action year" promises emphasizing that what the NDC government seeks to do is to subvert the progress of the country. He outlined that the Mills' administration in their bid to properly execute the action year has proven otherwise that they are completely incapable of honouring their promises to Ghanaians.
He indicated that the pledge by the ruling NDC government to set up Universities at the Volta Region and the Brong Ahafo Region has fallen on rocky ground, therefore, describing it as a "mirage". He told Abena Asiedua, hostess of X fm's morning show "Bigbite", that the two universities have since become defunct and "an addition to the schools under trees."
President Mills last February declared this year the action year where Ghanaians will virtually see a major improvement in infrastructure and a vast development of the economy. On December 2, 2010, the President reiterated his government's committment to reviving the economy but the NPP Deputy Communications Director explains that the Mills-led government has failed to build a haven for the economy.
Citing the failures of the ruling NDC government, Samuel Awuku added that the Mills' administration has shown gross incompetence that they can't lead the country and implored Ghanaians to test the performance of President Mills from his past as a Vice President.
He further ascribed President Mills' achievement ever since he resume office to naught saying that President Mills after resuming power dispatched some cars to his loyalists as a campaign strategy towards 2012.
According to him, President Mills together with the members of Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME) has always been loud about winning the Presidential slot at any cost. "...they said they will do everything to win the flagbearership race."
Samuel Awuku intimated that several projects that have been commissioned by the President were started and partly or fully established under the leadership of the Ex-Presidents J.A Kuffour and J.J Rawlings.
He was therefore optimistic the Presidential slot, during the 2012 elections, will rest on the lap of the New Patriotic Party stressing that "If President Mills cannot achieve his promises by end of December 2011; he's lost the 2012 elections."
