NDC Executive Pummels Radio Presenter

An Executive of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been accused of assaulting a radio presenter at Kintampo, a town in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The incident happened around the premises of ADASS FM in Kintampo.

The morning show host, Emmanuel Quarshie is reported to have been beaten to a pulp by the Youth Organizer of the NDC of the constituency after an argument ensued between the two.

The Youth Organizer, Nana Ababio is said to have battered the radio host for intervening on behalf of Guru, one of Ghana's finest Hip life musician following a misunderstanding over gate proceeds in relation to a concert that he (Guru) held in the vicinity.

Narrating the incident on Peace FM News at 12 pm, Mr. Emmanuel Quarshie explained that Guru was booked to perform at the Kintampo Waterfalls but failed to show up bringing the much-publicized concert to a virtual standstill.

According to him, the show was cancelled by Guru after realizing that the timing was wrong, but patrons were very unhappy with the abrupt end of the show.

Mr. Quarshie further expounded that in the midst of the situation; the NDC Youth Organizer stepped in and rescheduled the concert with Guru on behalf of the Assembly and further entered into agreement to pay 60 percent of proceeds to Guru as his performance fee.

“Many people were very pissed off. So, we conducted an interview with him to apologize because ADASS FM was the main radio station which ran the advert for them. So, people thought we collaborated with waterfalls…But we clarified that we were unaware of any deal but only a medium used to announce the show…we called Guru who spoke with the organizers which brought the situation under control.”

After a successful hosting of the re-scheduled show, Guru demanded his share of the proceeds but to his utmost shock was told he would only be given 20 percent instead of the arranged 60 percent.

An adhoc meeting was called between Guru and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Michael Justice Baffoe amidst other NDC executives.

It was at that meeting that, according to Mr. Quarshie, Guru called to inform him about the case and since, he (Quarshie) was the brain behind the concert; he immediately drove to the meeting place to intervene and ensure that Guru gets his rightful share of the deal.

But tempers flared during the meeting which resulted in fierce fisticuffs. Mr. Ababio is said to have lost his composure and violently attacked the presenter.

“Immediately, he (NDC Youth Organizer) went berserk and held my shirt that he will beat me…In the presence of the MCE, Michael Justice Baffoe; the organizer tore my shirt and beat me mercilessly,” Mr. Quarshie told Peace FM.

The ADASS FM morning show host is currently receiving medical attention and recuperating from the severe beatings he suffered.
