Renaming FSH To Jubilee House "Deepens The Ridicule" - Kweku Baako To Prez

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has urged President Akufo-Addo and his government not to revert the name Flagstaff House to Jubilee House.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the government will become a laughing stock of the nation should it change the name.

According to him, the name “Flagstaff House” is a relic of the colonial era of the State and so reflects Ghana's historic background.

Mr. Baako alluded to the regime of Ghana's First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who he said left the Flagstaff House untouched for peculiar reasons.

Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, he stated, wanted to portray the rich history of the nation and so felt the name, Flagstaff House, should remain.

Mr. Baako advised the Nana Addo government to keep the Flagstaff House, stressing the name change is the best at this time.

He explained that the Kufour administration's naming of the seat of government as Jubilee House was in the right direction because the establishment of the edifice was occasioned by Ghana's 50th anniversary.

However, President Akufo-Addo shouldn't attempt to rename the seat of government (Flagstaff House) to Jubilee House but rather "leave it the way it is now. Changing it to Jubilee House only deepens the ridicule. I sound contradictory. I agree the Jubilee was the right name. It should have been left intact. We didn’t do that. Change it again, we look ridiculous.”
