Mahama-Led Administration Has Completed A Lot of Projects

Government has completed works on the Kpong water supply with the Builsa station reservoir near completion, Finance Minister revealed in his budget Statement to Parliament on Tuesday.

Presenting the budget statement today (Tuesday) at Parliament, Seth Terkper disclosed a number of projects that the Mahama led government have undertaken in the water sector.

According to him, government has completed several works under the Kpong water supply expansion project, while the Builsa reservoir at Dodowa is still under construction but “the overall progress of the project is 37% complete. [Mr. Speaker], all communities under the sustainable rural water and sanitation project were engaged in community-led total sanitation activities during the year. In addition, assessment rehabilitation of 13 small town water supply systems in the Northern region was completed…”

Also, there have been “construction works to expand the Kumasi water supply from the current production capacity of 20 million gallons per day to 30 million gallons per day which is 90% complete whilst the Mampong water supply project to add 1.76 million gallons per day of water to is also on-going,” he added.

Touching on the transportation sector, he said the NDC government has also completed works on the Achimota-Ofankor roads while works on the Nsawam and Nkawkaw bypasses are almost finished.

He also stated that; “Under the feeder road development projects, a total of 104 bridges were launched. Out of this, 82 have been completed and opened to traffic whilst the rest are at various stages of completion…”

“The following road works and other related facilities were completed during the period under review. Expansion of the Odo bridge and construction of a flyover bridge, the extention of the La-Teshie road, the Gulf House to GIMPA bypass, Dansoman main road; all in Accra and then the reconstruction of the Oforikrom-Asokwa bypass including an interchange at Timber Gardens and the lake road in Kumasi, and over 200 signal stations in major urban were rehabilitated to reduce intercession bottlenecks.”

Meanwhile, government together with the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry has undertaken a number of projects with the aim of reducing traffic congestion in the country.
