Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for including Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah in his new list of ministers.
The former presidential aspirant of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has been appointed as Minister for Trade and Industry.
He together with other Ministerial appointees such as Hon. Fifi Kwetey who has been sent to the Fisheries & Agriculture Ministry, Mahama Ayariga who now heads the Youth and Sports among others is mandated to assist the President to deliver on his promises to Ghanaians.
Before the appointment of Dr. Spio-Garbrah, there had been several agitations about the outspoken nature of him prior to the 2008 elections and though noted for his devotion to the ruling party, he always seized the least opportunity to register his displeasure with some decisions his party takes.
Contributing to a panel discussion on “Kokrokoo” on Peace FM, Kofi Adams described Dr. Spio-Garbrah's ministerial entry as a bold step taken by the President and was optimistic with his expertise and experience; the government can achieve its better Ghana agenda.
He commended President John Mahama for not neglecting the NDC guru and further advised the new Ministers together with the old ones to relentless execute their official duties effectively.
“His entry is very good. It’s positive for government. It’s positive for the State. I think he (President John Mahama) should be commended for taking such a bold step," he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Spio-Garbrah says he is prepared to serve in President Mahama's administration.
