This Country Is On The Brink Of Tipping Over – Kwamena Duncan

The Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwamena Duncan has slammed the Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Felix Ofosu Kwakye for asking Ghanaians not to paint any gloomy picture about the state of the country's economy.

Speaking on behalf of government, Hon. Ofosu Kwakye indicated that though "gains have been made in many aspects of national life, government remains conscious of the many challenges that confront our people and assures that President Mahama continues to work tirelessly to address these challenges."

He therefore called for a "new conversation" to held into the affairs of the country, stressing the need for the citizenry to express optimism about the current administration.

According to him, the nation should end the talk of "doom, gloom, despondency and hopelessness that some seek so strenuously to foist on this nation."

Addressing the media during a press conference held in Accra on Tuesday, he pledged government's commitment to "using its mandate for the betterment of the lives of the people."

This notwithstanding, the NPP guru believes the incumbent government has only managed to worsen the plight of Ghanaians.

Contributing on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" Morning Show, Kwamena Duncan bemoaned the incessant power cuts coupled with other economic challenges facing Ghanaians and wondered how the citizenry would not paint a gloomy picture about the economy.

He challenged the ruling party to show the nation the "bright spot" so as to give hope to masses.

Reacting to the press release by the Information Ministry on the economy, Kwamena Duncan insisted the Deputy Minister and government must offer Ghanaians "the cause to indeed begin a new conversation", adding "this country may be on the brick of tipping over" as a result of the government's mismanagement of the country.
