Gone are the days when students were graded by their ability to have a firm grasp of the country's current issues; by knowing the names and portfolio of government functionaries off-the-cuff.
However, it's now difficult to differentiate whether our students are just being lazy or rather suffering from the aftermath of "dum sor.”
A section of Ghanaian students interviewed by Star TV were asked to mention the names of some Ministers of State.
Obviously, this should be simple but it becomes extremely shocking and worrying when our students are asked to "mention any Minister you know in Ghana.”
And they begin to give funny answers like "Prophet John Mahama" is a Minister in Ghana. Since when did President John Dramani Mahama appoint "Prophet John Mahama" as Minister for Education? And do we even have Minister for Sekondi?
This is really appalling!
