Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Nii Amasah Namoale says the opposition New Patriotic Party should pursue a legal action against President John Dramani Mahama if they believe he is abusing his "incumbency".
Hon. Namoale told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the NPP has astute lawyers in the party and so should proceed to court for President John Mahama to account for using State apparatus for his journeys to regions in the country.
The Member of Parliament for Dadekotopon was commenting on the wide-held view by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) members that the President's "Accounting to the People" tour is a campaign strategy geared towards the November 7 general elections.
To the critics, the President is abusing State funds and touring the country in his bid to be re-elected.
Responding to the critics, Hon. Namoale said on Peace FM'sKokrokoo the critics have realized the good works of the President but will continue to speculate because "it's a free Ghana. Any person can say anything freely. It’s even one of the achievements for President Mahama. You can say anything at all and nobody will hold it against you. If President Mahama says he’s going to embark on a campaign, the people following him now will be the same to follow him because he’s Head of State. There’s nothing wrong with it.
“If there’s something wrong with it, there are lawyers in the NPP…there is judicial review. You can send it to court. Where he has squandered government money; you can seek legal justice.”
To him, no amount of opposition shenanigans can divert the course of action taken by the President to account to the people.
“Whether campaign, whether accounting to the people, whether futuristic promise, whether immediate promise; Jesus is coming soon. Has he come? In all this, President Mahama will continue to do his good work and will continue to show you what he has done,” he added. |
