Wampah Was A Disaster...The Worse Non-Performing Governor In Ghana's History - Karbo

Anthony Karbo
Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Anthony Abayifa Karbo says the outgone Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BOG) Dr. Kofi Wampah was a "disaster" and the "worse Governor."

Addressing the exit of the Dr. Wampah from the Bank of Ghana, Anthony Karbo told host Nana Yaw Kesse that the he (Dr. Wampah) failed to put confidence in the financial purse of the economy.

He recounted that Dr. Wampah supervised several financial challenges, exchange rate losses and a failed economy.

According to him, Dr. Wampah as BOG Boss introduced taxes and financial regulations that crippled the banking sector.

“When you look at the financial regulations and taxes that have been introduced into the banking system, I believe it is one of the biggest disincentives to the banking industry, and Dr. Wampah supervised it. In fact, he will go down in Ghana’s history as one of the worse non-performing Governors of the Bank of Ghana.”

To him, Dr. Wampah's leave from office was long anticipated, thus he should have been sacked long ago as Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

“We have been calling for his head for a very long time. We have long expected for him to be removed from his seat…He should have gone long time ago. And when you listen to all those who have spoken on this matter, it is clear that the chorus is the same that he was a disaster. He didn’t help Ghana in any good way. In the midst of crises, Wampah escalated the crises.”

Anthony Karbo further appealed to the conscience of Ghanaians as he noted that the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo will appoint a Governor who will "create production for the production to lead to employment and the employment will lead to higher incomes and higher incomes will lead to more taxes. That is the kind of Governor we should be looking for. A Governor who’s coming in to ensure that production will lead the process.”
