Allotey Jacobs has jabbed the Minority in Parliament, claiming they are showing the electorate that all is not well in the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Making his submissions on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' about the bribery allegations hanging over the neck of the Appointments Committee of Parliament, the NDC stalwart believed the denial of the bribery allegation by the leadership of the Minority, irrespective of the fact that it was raised by one of its own members in Parliament, clearly shows there is division within the caucus.
The Educated Fisherman, as the NDC Central Regional Chairman is affectionately called, explained that considering how the Minority in Parliament is going about the issue with its Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak rubbishing Mr. Ayariga's bribery claims; depicts "a kind of posture that shows that we’re divided even in Parliament....that’s the gospel truth.”
Allotey Jacobs also expressed fears that the minority might be assassinating the character of the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko.
He noted that though he supports Mahama Ayariga on the issue of the alleged bribery incident in Parliament because the latter is an NDC member, he is however cautious about drawing conclusions.
“I will support Ayariga because he’s a member of my party. Party first! But my fear is that somebody’s [image] somebody’s name is being destroyed," he said.
He called on Parliamentarians to clean the "mess" that has characterized the House by launching a thorough investigation into the issue.
“Character assassination is hurtful and hearsays disgrace a person. If you know what you’re going to say has no basis, don’t go and say it . . . The name of Ghana’s Parliament is in disrepute. And they have to clean the mess,” he said.
