I am not dead; Kufuor reacts to hoax

Former President John Kufuor has dismissed a hoax suggesting he was dead. News about the purported death of the former president inundated social media networks over the week-end. Friends and sympathizers began to make calls to persons closely linked to the New Patriotic Party and to journalists who may have information on the purported death. But the former president has reacted to the hoax, saying he is not dead. He has been out of the country for over two weeks on international assignments. Mr Kufuor was in Nigeria on the invitation of President Goodluck Jonathan to deliver an address to commemorate the independence anniversary of the most populous West African nation. From there, he went to Switzerland and has since been in Oslo where he told Joy News “My time [to die] is not yet due.” He said it is appointed to man to die but that time is not due, insisting “I am alive and strong.” He expressed surprise at the news making headlines about his purported death and wondered why anybody will put such a story up without first confirming with family people.
