Rent Control Department Calls For Government Support

The Chief Rent Officer of the Rent Control Department, Addo Dombo has called on government to assist the Department with the necessary logistics and resources to boost their operations.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s newspaper review on Wednesday, he stressed that the time has come for government to direct its attention to the Rent Control Department which is currently in shambles.

He recounted the ordeal of the Department, saying it has been neglected for long time and so, government should come to their aid.

Mr. Dombo expressing his reaction about the state of the Department, blurted out these words to the host of the morning show on Radio Gold: “We need help. We need great help.”

He narrated the excruciating experience that he together with his officials go through daily at the Rent Control Department, revealing that he uses his private vehicle to undertake official duties.

“I have a 7-year old rickety pick-up which is boarded off. I don’t have a vehicle that is functional. I use my own private vehicle for duties and to claim fuel too is dificult to come by. The budget allocation given to Department is nothing to talk about. Even what is given to us has not been released. We don’t get it. So, it is true that my contractors are on my neck. Some of them are even threatening sueing the department for non-payment of works that they have done. We don’t have computers,” he stated.

He was therefore hopeful of government’s assistance to revamp the Department.
