We Should Look At The Challenges And Stick To The Nov. 7, It Makes Sense - Kweku Baako

Kweku Baako says pegging the elections at November 7 this year makes lots of sense.

According to the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, the legislators should look at the bill seeking to change the country's election date from December 7 to November 7 and clear all uncertainties about the proposed date.

Majority Leader Alban Bagbin, speaking to TV 3, the bill has gone through the first gazette and is expected to go through a second stage in three months after which it will take 10 days before it is laid before Parliament.

"It has been gazetted for the first time in accordance with the chapter on the amendment to Constitution and in about three months’ time, it will be gazetted the second time and after 10 days it will be laid in the House. That is what is ironed out in the chapter of the amendment to the Constitution,” he explained.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Mr. Baako noted that the proposed November 7 date is reasonable because it will make room for preparations towards the Presidential swearing in on January 7, 2016.

“This whole thing, instead of continuing with the noise, we should refocus, look at the challenges and stick to the November 7th date.”

Kweku Baako was of a strong view that it is possible to have successful elections in November.

“It’s reasonable. It makes sense. If we can go through the legal processes, it make sense that 7th November will be better . . . I think we can still do it. I think we are capable of doing so if we all allow the consensus which was originally built and used to deliver this report,” he said.
