A
spokesperson for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic
Party (NPP) has accused the National Security apparatus of masterminding
a near-murder attack on his boss; Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly
called Chairman Wontumi, on Thursday, May 8, 2014.
Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com,
the Spokesperson who gave his name as Richster Oscar disclosed that the
current National Security Coordinator, Mr. Yaw Donkor and a section of
the Security service deployed officers led by one Emmanuel Amedeka to
the Ashanti Region around 6pm to ambush Chairman Wontumi.
“They
came by flight and later used an unmarked vehicle but their activities
were being monitored by us constantly," he revealed.
According to
Oscar, they were reliably informed that the officers have been given
instructions to "kill" the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, simply because
he (Chairman Wontumi) had granted an interview to an Accra-based radio
station, Neat 100.9 FM and slammed President John Dramani Mahama for
"disrespecting" Ashantis.
Mr. Antwi Boasiako alleged that
President Mahama was "nearly slapped" by an unknown young man over his
"yen tie obia" comment he made during his tour to the Region.
Though
the President was fortunate to escape the slap, according to Chairman
Wontumi, the people of Ashanti Region are prepared to reply him when he
visits the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during his 15th year
anniversary this weekend.
The Spokesperson narrated that, in view of the comments made by Mr. Antwi Boasiako on Neat FM,
the current National Security Coordinator, Mr. Yaw Donkor and the
immediate past National Coordinator, Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey machinated
the plot to assassinate his boss.
“They dispatched them, this
Amedeka with four boys that they should come to Kumasi. There’s nowhere
they can find Chairman Wontumi…They showed them where he (Wontumi) could
be located…When they get him, they should kill him. Then, they relate
it to Nana - Alan issue because Wontumi is now battle-ready for Nana
Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to become a flagbearer. So, they will not link it
to the National Security. But unknown to them, from their arrival in
Kumasi, their activities were constantly under surveillance...
“Emmanuel
Amedeka said because my boss spoke about President Mahama; that is the
reason why they plotted to kill him and the meeting was held between
him, National Security Coordinator, Yaw Donkor, Brigadier Nunoo-Mensah
and the outgoing National Security Coordinator, Larry Gbevlo Lartey...,"
Chairman Wontumi’s Spokesperson revealed. |
