Analyst for the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed says
the first Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Baton Oduro and all other
parties involved in the Woyome judgment debt scandal should equally face
the full rigors of the law.
Speaking on Peace FM on "Kokrokoo",
Atik Mohammed called for heads to roll; stressing that all the parties
who played any significant role in the illegal payment of a whopping GHC
51.2 million to businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome should be hauled
before the court and prosecuted.
Particularly descending on Hon
Barton-Odro, the first Deputy Speaker of Parliament, then Deputy
Attorney General; Atik Mohammed wondered why he (Barton-Odro) has not
been shown the exit from government following the Supreme Court ruling
on Tuesday over the Woyome saga.
Alfred Agbesi Woyome was on
Tuesday dealt another legal blow by citizen vigilante Martin Amidu after
the Supreme Court ordered him (Woyome) to refund to the State, the GHC
51.2 million he illegally acquired from the Government of Ghana.
The
court ruling is the third defeat to have hit Mr. Woyome after the
Waterville ruling on June 14, 2003 where Waterville Holdings was also
ordered to refund 25 million Euros to the State and the ISOFOTON ruling
on June 21, 2003 where it is expected to refund the cedi equivalent of
$325,472 it also received from the Government of Ghana in March, 2011.
Sharing
his thoughts on the court ruling, Atik Mohammed insisted that
"everybody who played a role in what Woyome did, deserves to stand
before the law court and answer questions.”
He also blamed the
ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for hero-worshipping the
entities indicted in the infamous judgment debt saga.
“It is only
the NDC that elevates people who have played significant roles in the
procurement of illegal monies from the State…Whether it is the NDC or
whichever government comes after NDC, come what may whoever that played a
role in this should be arrested."
Adding his voice to calls for
Mr. Martin Amidu to be honoured by the State, Atik Mohammed posited that
before the country celebrates his (Martin Amidu) victory, "immediately
we retrieve the money; he deserves a percentage out of it."
