Sammy Awuku, the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, has called on the Presidential aspirants of the party to buckle up and fix their eyes on October 18, 2014 when the party's Presidential primaries will be held.
According to Sammy Awuku, the date is fixed and the primaries have not been rescheduled by the National Council of the party as rumored around by some party folks.
Grapevine reports indicates that some leaders in the party are advocating an extension of the date in order to help the candidates and the party organize themselves well.
According to the reports, the advocates would move the motion in the law court.
Speaking on Peace FM on "Kokrokoo", Sammy Awuku debunked the claims and stressed that the National Council has agreed to the stipulated date and until they come up with any contrary date; the contest will go on as planned.
“So far as the National Council has taken decision that it’s 18th October, be serious when you’re campaigning and work towards October 18th. Unless the Council sits up again and say that maybe in view of A, B, C & D; the Council has changed the date. That’s up to the decision of National Council. But we, as Officers of the party now, the date given to us by the National Council is 18th October,” he said.
Touching on the state of the economy, Sammy Awuku chided the Mahama government for aggravating the plight of Ghanaians.
He alluded to some policies implemented by the erstwhile Kufour administration, saying under the leadership of the Ex-President; Ghanaian pregnant women were given free medical attention.
But to him, the Ghanaian populace, particularly the Youth, have been taken for granted by President John Mahama.
Using a term invented by himself, Sammy Awuku said President Mahama thinks the Ghanaian youth are "Crow Crow the John", meaning they have become gullible to the ruling party.
He therefore presented the New Patriotic Party as the "alternative party" to the citizenry, come 2016. |
