Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr. has condemned government's move to seek a court decision to compel public sector workers to resume work.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kweku Baako Jnr. described the government's action as "cowardly" and an act "driven by bad faith."
Kweku Baako Jnr. was reacting to the court order granting interlocutory injunction restraining the striking workers from continuing their industrial action.
According to him, it was unnecessary for the government to seek court settlement when they had earlier called for negotiations with the striking workers.
Mr. Baako held that earlier decision to meet the workers and negotiate with them over their pension funds was the "best option".
He however blamed government for the unending labour agitations in the country, stating that "governments in general tend to be arrogant. They think they’re powerful."
Kweku Baako also believed allowing the employers and employees to appoint their own Trustee will help raise the level of trust of the workers regarding their pensions.
“How would you ensure the sense of ownership and participation, greater participation if they don’t take part in the appointment of the Trustee?” he questioned.
The action, he insisted, has breached the confidence that the workers reposed in the government.
"...You only sow the seeds for crisis, deepening of the crisis of confidence," Kweku Baako said. |
