Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has asked the Foreign Ministry to publish the list of people with diplomatic passports in the country.
Following the arrest of Ms. Nayele Ametefe at Heathrow Airport for carrying 12.5 kilos of cocaine, there have been arguments and counter-arguments about the kind of passport that she was holding at the time of the arrest.
While government officials deny she was holding a diplomatic passport, the minority side would only take the revelations with a pinch of salt.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Mr. Pratt asked the Foreign Ministry to make public the names of the people who used diplomatic passports to travel outside the shores of Ghana.
According to him, this will lay to rest the controversies surrounding Ms. Nayele Ametefe's passport.
"The list of those holding diplomatic passports should be exposed for everybody to see. This is not secret. If you hold a diplomatic passport, it's not a secret. It would help everybody should it be published in public...I want the full list published."
He indicated that about 226 diplomatic passports have been issued out for the past 6 months and so, publishing the list is the best option to unearth the truth. |
