Kwamena Duncan has blamed President John Dramani Mahama for the combative approach adopted by Presidential Staffer Stan Dogbe towards the Ghanaian media.
Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", the Central Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held strongly that the presidential staffer has the backing of the president thus his (Stan's) insolence towards media practitioners in the country.
He was commenting on the denial by Stan Dogbe of an accident involving some journalists from Takoradi in the Western Region.
Following the incident, Stan Dogbe took to his Facebook wall to denounce such report.
He wrote: “There has been no accident involving the Flagstaff House Press Corps or any vehicle from the Flagstaff House in the Western Region.
"The team with the President on his #Changinglives tour of the Western Region has long arrived in the Central Region.
"At least, as leader of the Communications Team on this trip, none of the media houses engaged in this irresponsible reports have contacted me or the Minister for Communications, Edward Omane Boamah to verify the story.”
But to Kwamena Duncan, Stan Dogbe has shown gross insubordination and apparently deserves to be sanctioned by the President.
He however expressed disgust at the President's silence over Stan Dogbe's behaviour, saying "this is what this man is doing and indeed whether you endorse it or not, the people are speaking against it. And you have kept stony silence on this matter. It is very sorrowful; that because they were not part of the official convoy, they did not exist. That is what it means.”
“You have the President’s man in charge of Communications put out this statement that indeed whatever happened was not something that came on his radar and even if it did, you were not recognized. You were not part of the official convoy and therefore if it happened, it’s not something that indeed comes into his book.
"It is the President who is behind him and that enables him to show that level of impunity…It is because the President is behind him....” |
