James Kwabena Bomfeh wondered how a certain Pakistani Norwegian named Umar Farooq Zahoor could beat the intelligence of the security forces and "dupe" Ghana.
Recent revelations by Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang (VG) disclosed a shady deal between the country's Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor and the Pakistani Norwegian man, who witnessed the signing of the agreement.
Dr. Kwabena Donkor signed the contract with Ameri Group seven months ago.
Meanwhile, Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang (VG) revelations have proven that Ameri Group which was being fronted by a Pakistani-Norwegian named Umar Farooq Zahoor, does not exist.
The newspaper investigations further indicated that Umar Farooq Zahoor is being wanted by the Norwegian and Swiss Police for fraud.
The deal which amounted to 510 million dollars was also revealed to have been bloated by the parties involved.
Dr. Kwabena Donkor signed the deal for the purchase of gas turbines to the specified amount but investigations show that the gas turbines actual cost was 220 million dollars.
This means there's an excess amount of 290 million dollars which is suspiciously ending up in the pockets of the parties.
James Kwabena Bomfeh asked the Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor about the kind of intelligence he sought before signing the deal.
He noted on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' that there are Ghana embassies in foreign countries and so, he expected the Power Minister and National Security to have consulted with the embassy in Norway to pick the right intelligence about the personality of the fraud suspect.
He raised serious concerns about the dormant role that was played by the security forces to unravel the mystery behind the deal, stressing that "government cannot run away from this issue."
