First Vice National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has urged Ivor Greenstreet to reconcile the Convention People's Party front.
Commenting on the Presidential candidature of Ivor Greenstreet, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo noted that the CPP has weak foundation and called on Ivor Greenstreet to build strong party structures that can compete in the November 7 elections this year.
According to him, the newly-elected flagbearer of the CPP has great "mental capacity and intelligence" to make the general elections a tough game for his contenders on the political divide but he can't pull surprise without galvanizing the party structures.
“There is one way of electing a leader and another way of galvanizing the party structures that can help you to win elections. Because if you want to win elections; you need to build a very strong party structures. I believe that over the years, CPP has very weak foundation in terms of the structures on the ground. And I wonder whether between now and election time, they will have the resources, the strength and the time to go round and put those structures in place.”
This notwithstanding, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo however believed having Mr. Greenstreet as flagbearer of the CPP will enrich Presidential debates in the country.
“He may be a good person. There’s no doubt about that. He’s very intelligent, very articulate. He represents a very strong constituency…He has the mental capacity. It will be very interesting because I believe that his level of articulation and understanding of governance system will enrich any future Presidential debate we will hold in this country.” |
