Those Who Lack Respect; I Believe The Delegates Will Forgive Them - Kabila To Samia

Presidential candidate-elect of the Convention People's Party (CPP) Ivor Kobina Greenstreet has been hailed from all sectors of the political divide following his remarkable victory in the party's national delegates' congress.

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as well as prominent political figures have congratulated Mr. Greenstreet for defying all odds and outclassing his closest contender, Samia Nkrumah; over the weekend.

But it appears the latter is not well-pleased with the results and so has accused the CPP Flagbearer-elect of bribing his way to victory.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, the former National Youth Organiser of the party James Kwabena Bomfeh also called Kabila rubbished the bribery allegation by Samia Nkrumah, daughter of Ghana's first President.

According to Kabila, Samia's accusations smack of disrespect to the delegates and his personality for vouching for the candidature of Mr. Greenstreet.

He noted that Mr. Greenstreet's won the elections on a clean slate and so warned off any person bandying about any such accusations of vote-buying by the victorious candidate.

Those who don’t want us to respect them, those who want to disrespect our delegates by casting aspersions on their integrity and the free choice or the freedom to choose, their will that they expressed on Saturday; I believe and hope the delegates will forgive them,” Kabila said.

He stressed that Mr Greenstreet sold a message to the delegates which they bought into and later reflected in the votes he polled.

We respected them. We went to them. We offered them a message and the delegates have elected unto themselves that this is the message we want – Ivor Kobina Greenstreet –..."

…I supported her to be Chairman of our party but I didn’t believe that she should be flagbearer at this time without sounding disrespectful. Without any misgiving towards her but I felt that the person who’s qualified to lead us in 2016 is Ivor Greenstreet. You want to disrespect me by saying that Ivor gave me money to follow him?” he rhetorically asked.
