NDC Parliamentary candidate for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Sam George is worried about images of the suspect behind the murder of the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, J.B Danquah, which has gone viral.
Sam George, speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, expressed disappointment in the Ghana Police Service for revealing the face of the suspect which is already trending on various social media platforms and news online portals.
According to him, such practice is unfortunate on grounds that the person arrested in connection with the murder is only a suspect.
Clearly upset about the abuse of social media in the country, he opined that images of the suspect on social media was to him an act of ill-treatment.
“If I am not mistaken, it is the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander Dr. George Dampare who had his hands on the shoulders of the gentleman in some wooden structure where they picked him up. So clearly, there was no media man there when the Police did that swoop. It was a Police operation. So it means that a Police officer took that picture and sent it viral on social media. You asked yourself why people will carry out such unfortunate action. What is this new craze in all of us?” he rhetorically asked. |
