Kwesi Pratt has released a caustic attack on some Ministers in the country for being lazy and leaving their duties for President John Mahama to execute on their behalf.
According to Mr. Pratt, the Ministers only have comfortable positions in their offices whereas the President does the works that they were assigned to do.
“Why for every single project, if the President, himself, does not travel there; nothing happens? What are the Ministers doing? Are the Ministers not tired of sitting in their offices?” he wondered.
Expressing disgust over the behaviour of some Ministerial appointees, Mr. Pratt noted that these appointees wear suits with shiny shoes to match and relax in their offices when they have to be outside to get their hands dirty.
"These days every Minister is trying to look like an American business tycoon; coat, tie and so on. Very soon some of them will be wearing bowler hats…There was a time when under this very NDC, you saw how Ministers appeared – business-like – you saw Ministers as people who were ready to do some work, to dirty their hands, to mingle and so on."
He further wondered why the likes of Ato Ahwoi and other leaders in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) showed leadership by example by rather going on the field to ensure that they dirtied themselves in executing their official duties.
“When did all those traditions change? The same NDC…It was difficult to see an NDC Minister suited, fully suited with shiny shoes. It was difficult. Today, you see it. That’s an indication of the change in work attitude.
“Now they want to dress to kill. You know to impress you and so on. It should not happen in a democratic government. A government should be seen as hands-on. People ready to work, dirty their hands…The Ministers are becoming too comfortable in their offices,” he stated.
He spoke during a panel discussion on Radio Gold's 'Alhaji and Alhaji' programme on Saturday.
