Election Petition: Armed Forces Take “Backstage Role”?

The Defence Minister, Mark Woyongo, has disclosed that his Ministry has deployed the Ghana Armed Forces to take a "backstage role" and assist the Police Service to safeguard the peace of the nation.

According to him, the security agencies will exercise their duties effectively and deal with persons who may be gearing up to cause mayhem in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Gold Monday morning, Hon. Mark Woyongo assured Ghanaians of the readiness of the security services to clamp down on any hoodlums in the nation.

"There shouldn't be any panic. There shouldn't be any fear. People should go about duties without any fear at all...There shouldn't be any cause for alarm because we are more than prepared. We want to ensure that Ghana continues to be in peace, not in pieces," he echoed and further called on Ghanaians to report any unfortunate incidents to the Police Service.
