Allotey Jacobs Appeals To Mahama To Dissolve Ghana Football Association

Central Regional Propaganda Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to dissolve the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over what he sees as "sheer ineptitude" on the part of the Association.

Allotey Jacobs insists the President should roll out drastic measures against the management of the Football Association, even if it calls for the wrath of FIFA; the international governing body of association football.

According to him, the GFA has failed to depict a better picture of sports in the country.

Speaking on Peace FM on "Kokrokoo", Allotey Jacobs expressed disappointment in the FA, explaining that local sports is almost on the verge of collapse due to the poor administration of the football body.

He also bemoaned the activities of the officials before the elimination of the Black Stars in the FIFA 2014 World Cup at Brazil.

He wondered why the officials chartered a business-class flight for their "wives and kids" while the players, themselves, had to make do with economy.

“I will call on the President to dissolve GFA…If you pay rapt attention to Kevin Prince Boateng; I think I will side with these two guys, that’s Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng. Look, they went to play football; then went to charter a plane and the GFA officials sandwiched by their wives and children rather boarded business class while the players were in economy flight…

“Indeed, we must find a way to dissolve both the GFA and Black Stars. Some nations have done it and they came out the best. So, it’s best we really devise means to dissolve the GFA and face the wrath of FIFA,” he said.

He further called on Ghanaians to give President Mahama some breathing space since to him, the President's decision to airlift the players' appearance fees in cash was crucial to the success of the team during the World Cup Group stages.

“Why are we not sympathizing with the President in that situation, knowing very well that desperate situations call for desperate measures?” he inquired.
