NPP Communicator: IMF May Spell Doom For The Country

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications team, Nana Boakye has blamed President John Dramani Mahama for the current economic woes on the Ghanaian citizenry.

Chiding the President and his government for crippling the economy, Nana Boakye expressed on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” programme that the Mahama government’s decision to solicit the support of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) may spell doom for the nation.

According to him, the IMF transactions with the Government of Ghana will not inure to the benefits of the country but rather send fears down the spine of the citizenry.

Nana Boakye, reacting to the government’s intent to seek help from the IMF, indicated that it will have dire consequences on the economy due to the conditionalities and other pledges attached to the offer that the IMF may provide for the people of Ghana.

Though admitting the government has no other choice to make looking at the current economic hardships, the NPP Communicator could not hide his agitations as he called on the Mahama government to work assiduously to remedy the plight of Ghanaians.

However, NDC Communicator Fred Agbenyo has welcomed the IMF deal.

Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show, Fred Agbenyo lauded the government’s decision, stressing that the IMF bid will attract foreign investors into the country.
