NDC Was Founded Out Of Confusion...Still Distributing "Bentoa", "Maggi Cubes" As They Used To - Atik Mohammed

Policy Analyst of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed says the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was an offspring of chaos and is a party that failed to uphold the democratic structures of the country.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Atik Mohammed stated emphatically that NDC is a party that was "founded out of confusion" and "didn’t know what they were supposed to do."

According to him, during the time that a new era of democracy was sweeping across the nation; the governing party also thought it wise to join the bandwagon but regretfully went about busily distributing “‘kako’, bentoa [enema], nkyene [salt], maggi cubes among others."

"We thought they had changed over a period but what we see today shows that they have not changed. And they have not learned to embrace democracy; I’m referring to the true meaning of democracy," he said in connection with the party's upcoming congress.

The National Chairman of the NDC, Dr Kwabena Adjei, with barely three days to go for the party's National Congress where elections for National Executive positions will be held, hit the roof following allegations and counter allegations being made by the aspirants.

Dr Kwabena Adjei, who is seeking reelection, went ballistic over the exploitation and monetisation of the party's internal elections.

He accused his own party members character assassination and black propaganda, contrary to the philosophy of probity and accountability which formed the basis upon which the NDC was established.

"They are engaging in vote-buying, character assassination, vile propaganda. We don't come from that tradition," he alleged.

But to Atik Mohammed, the NDC shared no "faith in the practice of democracy.”
