Cocaine Lady Regrets Her Actions...She Made A "Foolish Mistake" - Nayele's Lawyer Tells Court

Nayele Ametefeh, also known as Ruby Adu Gyamfi, has regretted her actions and hoped never to repeat her conduct after serving her sentence in UK prison.

According to Counsel for Nayele Ametefeh, James Kubi, his client's high profile lifestyle lured her to commit such a "foolish mistake."

“Her lifestyle led her to make a foolish mistake,” Lawyer Kubi said.

Nayele, who pleaded guilty to carrying 12 kilograms of cocaine to the United Kingdom, was sentenced on Tuesday, January 6, 2014 to 8 years eight months imprisonment by the court.

Giving an account about Nayele's life to the court, Peace FM's accredited correspondent covering the trial, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, disclosed that Nayele who was present in court in person, had a new lawyer by name James Kubi and revealed that the Ghanaian- Austrian born mother of three children, divorced in the year 2004.

She further narrated that according to counsel of the convicted drug courier, due to his client's exceptional beauty, she got married customarily at the age of sixteen (16).

According to the lawyer, she had to protect her children. This led to her being 'vulnerable’ and further exposed her to high profile personalities in the country.

Counsel for Nayele disclosed that she (Nayele), in one of her travelling escapades, made acquaintance with a "popular" topnotch Ghanaian businesswoman, also a lawyer, who convinced her into trading with her.

She therefore got involved in the ‘79 percent purity’ cocaine and had a pass through the airport VIP without any hassle due to her relationship with these bigwigs in the nation.

Though Nayele insistently denied knowledge of the content of the cocaine in her baggage during her trial, the Counsel however noted that "she played a very significant role. She knew the risk involved because she’s a very experienced traveller.”

“Nayele has regretted her actions and further told the court that she’s remorseful. And she will not allow such an incident to happen again," and the disheartening news of her impending conviction has already sent fear down her spine since the sentence will separate her from her children and family.

“She will serve long sentence in prison in a foreign land. She will abandon her children and family…and will not get the advantage to cater for her children like she loved them," her lawyer is reported to have said.
