A policy analyst of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has lambasted former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, for dabbling in the affairs of the nation.
Speaking on Oman FM, he wondered why Ex-President Obasanjo added his voice to appeal to striking medical doctors in the country to call off their industrial action when he has not succeeded in resolving the impasse in his country.
Ex-President Obasanjo last Friday told the doctors to rescind their decision, stating that “no matter how right you are, you cannot shirk your responsibilities as doctors to your patients, whom you have sworn to save. Life lost cannot be resuscitated."
He made the appeal at a special congregation of the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale.
However, Atik Mohammed believes the comments by the Nigerian leader might fuel the doctors’ strike rather than calm down their nerves.
He sought to find out his (Obasanjo) “interest in Ghana”, also asking why he has been suddenly hobnobbing with President John Dramani Mahama and commenting on national issues.
In his view, Chief Obasanjo should concentrate on fixing the problems in his country before he assumes any position to touch on the affairs of Ghana.
“How many times have you helped solve problems in your country? How many times have you made suggestions to make better your country? Your country is surviving on corruption…I find it extremely surprising that this man has found some unholy matrimony with our President,” he said.
