The Information and Media Relations Minister, Mahama Ayariga, in an interview with Radio Gold, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for the numerous interventions his government has made to enhance the progress of the economy.
He said within the President’s 100 days of administration, he has secured a number of projects and undertaken several initiatives, which is an indication of his commitment to resolving the challenges the country is grappling with.
He recounted some achievements of the Mahama-led government in just 100 days, saying since the inception of the incumbent government, there has been a significant representation of women in various Ministries and other positions.
He also said the President has ensured regional balance in the appointment of his cabinet members.
Alluding to the appointment of Dr. Henry Seidu Daannaa, a visually impaired lawyer, as Minister for Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, he believed the President has addressed the issue of discrimination.
According to him, this clearly shows the good work that the President is doing to build national unity.
He further added President Mahama after sworn-in to commence official duties, in 100 days, “set up a government that within a short time that reflects social balance, socially includes all sections of population. And in fact, if you put all Deputy Ministers and the Ministers together and you strike the percentages, you can see that for the first time also; the President has appointed about 30% women into top Ministerial and Deputy Ministerial positions. And we believe that it will permeate to the lower levels.”
He therefore commended the President, stating that “he has done well. In fact, people give all sorts of marks but I’ll say he has done exceedingly well.”
