General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah has advised government officials to give Nana Addo's comments a hearing.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Bernard Mornah was of the view that Nana Addo's statements regarding the state of the economy should not be rubbished away because he (Nana Addo) expressed his opinions.
According to him, Nana Addo touched on intricate issues like corruption and the progress of the Kasoa Interchange project and so, "has made his case."
"Those who have ears to hear, let them hear. Nana Addo has expressed his mind. If you don’t take it and the people of Ghana believe in Nana Addo, they will do it at the appropriate time.”
Speaking at the 2nd Alhaji Aliu Mahama Memorial Lectures held at the State Banquet Hall in Accra on Tuesday, Nana Addo chided the current administration for failing to safeguard the economy.
He also challenged the figures put out by the government regarding the construction of the Kosoa Interchange.
"The people of Ghana expect their government to run the affairs of the country so that the weak and vulnerable will be protected and social services are managed for the public good...our people need to have that firm assurance now, not just by words or pious declarations, but by concrete deeds.”
He further advised President Mahama and his officials to "“demonstrate by example, that indeed they are up for the fight…our people need to have that firm assurance now, not just by words or pious declarations, but by concrete deeds.”
Though some appointees in the Mahama government have raised concerns about the comments made by Nana Addo, Bernard Mornah believes Nana Addo's appeal will be upheld by the President if indeed it carries some weight.
“Nana Addo has also said that he has listened to submissions from the President and his Spokespersons but this is his humble appeal. So, if the President will listen; he will listen. If he will not listen, he will not listen.” |
