James Kwabena Bomfeh, affectionately called Kabila has added his voice to the many calling for the immediate resignation of Mr. Kofi Portuphy as Head of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
Speaking on Peace FM's Morning Show "Kokrokoo", the former National Youth Organizer of the Convention People's Party (CPP) made demands on the NADMO Boss to step down from office following his election as the National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, the NADMO Boss can't function in such an office and simultaneously act as the National Chairman of the ruling party.
This is because, Kabila doesn't believe Mr. Portuphy would be unbiased in treating victims of natural disasters in the nation.
He recounted that Mr. Portuphy, as NDC National Chairman, may tend to "favour" his party faithfuls so far as natural disaster management issues are concerned.
Though some critics have justified the notion of Mr. Portuphy holding two positions in government because they explain that his chairmanship is more or less a part time job; Kabila however disagrees saying "the notion of it being part time and so, he holding on to that position of NADMO.
“What do you gain from holding those two positions? Especially when we have other people, even if they’re NDC folks; are you telling me there’s nobody in the NDC who’s fit for that position other than Mr. Kofi Portuphy?” he questioned. |
