Vice National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has called on the nation to stop giving attention to Presidential hopeful, George Boateng.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo, who also doubles as the Director of Elections for the NDC; noted that George Boateng's presidential ambitions are of little or no relevance to the progress of the nation.
According to him, the Presidency is a serious office and so, deserves a serious candidate who can steer the affairs of the economy.
George Boateng has been confronted with lots of challenges from the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who think that he is mentally deranged and should not be allowed to contest President John Mahama.
Since he disclosed to the public that he would contest the Presidential seat on the ticket of the NDC, he has been refused opportunities to pick his nomination form to set his dream in motion.
Though some political figures have condemned the NDC leadership for sidelining the Presidential hopeful, the NDC Vice National Chairman believes the country is "putting a lot of premium on something that does not even matter in our scheme of affairs."
To him, "we’re talking about the Presidency. It’s not a district assembly election or unit committee election. We’re speaking about somebody who wants to lead this country as Head of State and Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces" and so Ghanaians must "move on and this matter should be thrown into dustbin of history.” |
