NDC Communicator, Bernard Anim Piesie has blamed Ghanaians for perpetuating corruption in the country.
Commenting on the undercover investigation by Anas Aremeyaw Anas regarding the judicial service, Anim Piesie said on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' that Ghanaians cannot absolve themselves from the corruptible practices by some judges in the nation.
According to him, it takes two people to engage in an act of bribery and so, the judges caught on tape for receiving bribes in order to influence the outcome of the cases they preside should not only become the cynosure of all eyes.
Anim Piesie recounted that often when people find themselves in a difficult situation, whether in the grips of the Police service or when sending their wards to some educational institutions; they device certain means to receive favourable results.
Some Ghanaians would either pay their way through or rather find people to leverage on their behalf, this and many other activities Anim Piesie noted fuel corruption.
He therefore urged the citizens to refrain from any act that may further deepen the cracks in the country.
“When you point a finger at someone, the remaining four fingers point at you. Who are those who paid the bribe? If you bribery will go on, it takes two people or more. The giver and the taker, and also the judges didn’t make sound the gong. He didn’t do radio announcement that you should bring money if you have a case. Also, you won’t go to their chambers to find a price tag. There’s no list there. We influence them. So, we must first blame ourselves for taking such action.” |
