General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has commended President John Mahama and his government for importing all kinds of commodities into the nation including 'terrorists'.
Atik Mohammed sarcastically praised the President on his various attempts to import virtually everything and so will now venture into the importation of 'terrorists' in the persons of Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih.
Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih were detained by the US government for allegedly engaging in terrorism and being members of a militant Islamic sect.
Their release from the Guantanamo Bay prison to Ghana has struck controversy as several Ghanaians have called for a return of the two detainees back to the US.
Some Ghanaians fear they may orchestrate some terror in the nation while others have questioned the deal between the Government of Ghana and the United States necessitating the transfer of the detainees to Ghana.
Also addressing the issue on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Atik Mohammed said the nation under the administration of the Mahama government "has done so well that we have been importing everything and now we’re even importing 'terrorists'. We’ve imported practically everything there is to import. Now, we cannot import again. We don’t know what to import and so, we are now importing terrorists."
But to him, even if the government will import 'terrorists', it should bring the ones that Ghanaians can deal with and triumph over.
"At least if you’re importing, import terrorists that Ghanaians will accept. But you’re importing terrorists whose records Ghanaians are not accepting…You don’t do things to please other countries. The international system is all about self-help. The question I’m asking is that what the President did, how does that help the country called Ghana?" he sardonically questioned. |
