This Oko Vanderpuije Man Is Dividing Us With His Penchant For Tribalism Left, Right & Center

Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, believes the actions and in-actions of the Mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, have the potency of wrecking the economy.

According to him, doom awaits the nation should the administration of the capital be left in the hands of the Accra Mayor.

Speaking on Radio Gold on Monday regarding the public declaration by Mr. Oko Vanderpuije that the Accra Hockey pitch has been renamed after the late President Mills, Sammy Awuku recalling some past events undertaken by Mr. Vanderpuije expressed no surprise about his conduct.

He alluded to a similar thing that happened in the country when the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium was reverted to Accra Sports Stadium by the Mayor over reasons that Ohene Djan was not a member of the Ga State and therefore it would not be appropriate to name the stadium after him.

Sammy Awuku was therefore of a strong view that Mr. Vanderpuije is being pampered by the nation after even noticing the mistakes he’s committed in his capacity as the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive.

“It’s very selective and hypocritical on the part of the Chief of Staff and the President because the same thing the man did with the hockey saga, that was the same strategy he used for the Ohene Djan Stadium or Accra Sports Stadium.

“I think that this man, this Oko Vanderpuiye man, is dividing us with this tribal thing left, right, center; if we don’t take care, our country will break down before our very eyes.”
