Caliber Of People Running For NPP Primaries Shows It Is Definitely Not A Party For The Poor - NDC Vice Chair

1st National Vice-Chairman for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has hailed the decision by some politicos who were considered as credible neutral entities to push a certain agenda to run for Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Contributing to a panel discussion programme on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Samuel Ofosu Ampofo was of a strong view that their decision will improve Ghana's politics.

According to him, no person should be disallowed from contesting any Parliamentary seat.

His reaction comes after some renowned journalists and members of pressure group Occupy Ghana publicly revealed their intentions to contest Parliamentary seats on the ticket of the NPP.

Personalities like George Andah, formerly of Occupy Ghana and Kojo Nkrumah, former host of Joy FM's Morning Show including others have all nursed interest to contest the NPP's Parliamentary primaries this year hoping to win a seat in the august House in 2016.

Addressing the issue further, the NDC 1st Vice Chairman however warned the NPP not to block the chances of aspirants but rather open the game up for them.

I think that we should create opportunity, as much as possible, for as many people as possible who want to go into politics. We shouldn’t make money a barrier to prevent somebody from contesting due to money issues. We wish them well and we hope that they can create a level playing field” for the aspirants."

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo further noted that with the caliber of personalities that are contesting for NPP Parliamentary positions; NPP is definitely not a poor party.
