SA Xenophobic Attacks: AU Should Wake Up!!! - John Boadu

NPP National Organizer, John Boadu has called on the African Union to rise up and let its voice be heard in the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Rising unemployment amongst black South Africans is fuelling animosity against other African nationals living in the relatively prosperous multi-racial country.

South Africa's xenophobic culture got worldwide condemnation in 2008 when at least 62 foreign nationals lost their lives.

Speaking on Peace FM's Morning Show "Kokrokoo", John Boadu told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that it is about time the African Union (AU) brought order to the South African nation.

He condemned the xenophobic attacks on African foreign immigrants in the country, which has resulted in the death of about five people and a Ghanaian national.

John Boadu admonished the AU not to fold its arms and look on as some South Africans take the law into their own hands and continue to kill foreigners in the name of retrieving their jobs.

It’s a major [major major] problem that was not only restricted to South Africans just like Kwesi said. Almost all African countries and people living outside committed enough resources to make sure that the apartheid system is destroyed…

We should use that opportunity to look at the South African situation. We look at the way forward. We can’t wish those matters away. It will surface in one way or the other…We can’t go to bed on these matters. It’s regretful. It’s an issue that should not be condoned," he said.
