The
Central regional women wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
is calling for the reinstatement of the caretaker Minister of the
region, Madam Ama Benyiwa-Doe, for reasons that she has been very
phenomenal to the progress of the region.
According to the NDC women, Madam Ama Benyiwa-Doe has worked assiduously to bring some vital changes to the region.
She was touted by the women to have made several interventions to improve infrastructure in the region.
Some Regional Ministers fell off of the list of Ministers appointed by President John Dramani Mahama in his government.
The Office of the President on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, released new regional Ministers in the Mahama-led administration.
The
new appointments saw the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea
Afotey Agbo, retaining his position while the Upper West Regional
Minister ceded his position to the ministerial nominee, Bede Ziedeng.
Former
Mayor of Kumasi, Samuel Sarpong was elevated to head the Ashanti Region
while Paul Evans Aidoo was also retained as the Western Regional
Minister.
Other appointees were Eric Opoku who will oversee the Brong Ahafo Region and E.K.T Addo as the Central Regional Minister.
E.K.T
Addo takes over from the outspoken Ama Benyiwaa-Doe who is believed to
be a strong ally of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills.
Ama
Benyiwa Doe did not make the list of ministerial nominees of President
John Mahama but the regional women organizers have made calls on the
President to reinstate her as the Central Regional Minister.
They believe she is the better person for the region due to her hardwork since she became Minister in the Mills-led government.
Speaking
in an interview on Adom FM, the women who seemed distraught over her
exclusion from the list of ministers in the Mahama-led government
showered praise on Ama Benyiwa Doe for her outstanding work.
They prayed President John Mahama reconsiders his decision and ensure that she is retained as the Regional Minister. | |
