Mahama's Abura Promise Differs From NPP's 'One-This-One-That' Fatal Crusade!

Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has described as 'misleading' some media reports that President John Dramani Mahama has promised to provide each house in the country a meter.

There were reports that the President has promised residents of Abura in the Central Region "one meter per house".

The reports claim the President made the campaign promise after realizing that the people of Abura in the Cape Coast North constituency share meters.

He believed the sharing of meters could help in bringing down the confusion during payment of tariffs.

According to the reports, President Mahama indicated that government has already procured thousands of meters which would be made available to the residents.

But speaking to the issue from Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem, Dr Omane Boamah, who is part of the president's entourage on the Central Regional tour, was unhappy with the reportage from some media outlets.

He was particularly critical of the news report filed by Citi FMand JoyFM.

"President Mahama is not premising the provision of meters to the people of Abura on winning the 2016 election. Likening it to Akufo Addo's "one dam, one village" nationwide frivolous policy is to say the President is promising one meter per one house for the whole country....which ordinarily is not a problem but fact is, he didn't promise that for the whole country," he clarified.

The Communications Minister noted that whiles the provision of meters to households is not a problem for the government, the president "did not premise it on winning the 2016 elections".

To him, it appears some media reports on the president's assurance to the people of Abura was skewed in such a manner to tie in with "Akufo Addo's one-this-one-that fatal crusade".
