A member of the NDC Communications team, Eric Ametor Quarmyne has questioned the feasibility of Nana Addo’s campaign promise of “1 Village, 1 Dam”.
Nana Addo, during his tour of the Upper East Region, pledged that his government will ensure that every village in the Northern Region has a dam should Ghanaians elect him as Head of State. He believed the dam will help improve the irrigation systems in the villages and boost the agricultural sector of the economy.
Commenting on the “1 Village, 1 Dam” promise by Nana Addo, Ametor Quarmyne held a strong view that it is not possible for Nana Addo to bring his promise to fruition.
Ametor Quarmyne noted constructing a dam in the villages will not be useful “because that will not be the best use of resources. It will not be the best efficient way to undertake such a programme…Is this the best use of the country’s resources? Will he achieve our objective for the irrigation purposes?”
According to him, Nana Addo should rather be thinking about improving the poor water systems in the villages.
He asked how he (Nana Addo) would achieve his initiative when the villages cannot rely on proper water systems. |
