NPP Lacks Moral Right To Speak On The Erratic Power Supply - Edward Bawa

Public Relations Manager for the Ministry of Energy and NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Bongo, Edward Bawa wants the opposition NPP to "shut up" on the issue of the niggling power crisis.

Ghana has over the years been bedevilled with series of erratic power supply.

The power crises, popularly called 'dumsor', has since become the headache of consumers of electricity and the entire nation as Ghanaians keep making demands on the government to resolve the energy situation.

Addressing the situation on the occasion of the Eid ul-Fitr at the Black Stars Square in Accra on Wednesday, President John Dramani Mahama ascribes the erratic power supply to sabotage in Nigeria.

"We have recently suffered some generational problems. Because of sabotage in Nigeria on the terminals, crude oil we ordered from Nigeria has not arrived and so it has created some generational problems for us."

The President's declaration has courted controversy with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) taking a swipe at the Mahama administration.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Bongo, Edward Bawa issued a stern warning to the opposition NPP, asking them to "shut up" on the issue of the erratic power situation.

According to him, the NPP did nothing of significant value to increase the country's energy supply and so do not have the right to pontificate on the subject.

Commenting further on the power sector, Edward Bawa noted that Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings saved the country's energy situation by introducing thermal plants to address future problems while the NPP on the other hand failed to sustain the sector.

"....they have no credibility. They shouldn’t be speaking about these issues. If you speak about it [Kwame], I will listen to you. If PPP speaks about it, I will listen to them…NPP has no credibility” to partake in any discussion on the erratic supply of power.
