Ade Coker Questions Kwesi Appiah’s Tactics

NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Ade Coker has stridently expressed worry over the tactics deployed by the Coach of Ghana's Senior National Football team, Kwesi Appiah, in the wake of the Black Stars painful loss to the United States of America.

Ade Coker, former football administrator, wondered why Coach Kwesi Appiah enlisted players who were "half-fit" for the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

According to him, some Black Stars players had no business being on the field because they were not 100 percent fit for the game.

The USA on Monday, June 16 beat the Black Stars by 2 goals to 1.

Prior to the match, the Black Stars were touted as favourites but were shocked by the Americans at the end of the game.

Sharing his thoughts on the game on Peace FM's political analysis programme “Kokrokoo”, Ade Coker questioned Kwesi Appiah's rationale for including certain players in his final squad for the World Cup.

To him, he (Kwesi Appiah) did not play any particularly strategy intended to win the match.

“There are certain players in our team who don’t deserve to be there…If you knew that Essien and Kelvin and those other players; they were not much fit, then first and foremost, there was no business for you to even bring them on board…We had no strategy.

“Are they half-fit? If they’re half-fit to go and play a tournament, as a technical person, then why do you carry them along?” he queried.

He however proposed that the Coach should utilize the capabilities of his senior players in Ghana's next match against Germany.

According to him, he should introduce the senior players in the early stage of the match so that “when the demolition work is done within the first 45 minutes, then you go and rest your soul.”
