Kwesi
Pratt Jnr., Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, has shot back at
Deputy Sports Minister, Joseph Yamin, over some comments the government
appointee is said to have made regarding the FIFA 2014 World Cup.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo"
morning show, Kwesi Pratt questioned the logic in the Deputy Minister’s
remarks that majority of Ghanaian football fans to be airlifted to
Brazil to watch the ongoing World Cup matches, will be NDC sympathizers.
Hon.
Yamin had earlier stated that NDC activists will be given preferential
treatment at the expense of other soccer fanatics on the political
divide. He supported his position by stating emphatically that a similar
thing was perpetuated during the erstwhile Kufour regime.
But
the senior journalist slammed him (Joseph Yamin) for making such
disparaging comments and warned him and others with similar mindset to
refrain from politicizing sports which has proven to be a unifier in the
country.
Stopping short of describing him as a nation wrecker,
the seasoned journalist opined thus "any person who politicizes
football, say this is NDC vrs NPP; he is a nation wrecker…dispense
quickly with the NDC-NPP politics that you’re interspersing with
soccer."
