Brogya
Gyenfi, a member of the Government’s Communication Team, has implored
socio-economic commentators and Ghanaians at large to give the Hon.
Joseph Yamin, Deputy Minister for Sports, some breathing space following
his recent gaffe about the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Contributing to "Kokrokoo" on Peace FM,
Brogya Gyamfi insisted that the Deputy Sports Minister did not goof by
stating an obvious fact and therefore wondered if Ghanaians rather
expected him (Yammin) to peddle falsehoods.
According to him,
whenever there is an opportunity for supporters to be airlifted to cheer
up the Black Stars, definitely NDC sympathizers will be preferred above
other Ghanaians on the political divide.
Speaking to Kwami Sefa
Kayi, host of the programme, Brogya, who is also the Special Assistant
to Deputy Sports Minister, reiterated that a similar thing happened
under the Kufour administration and so, the ruling party is under no
obligation to refuse to send majority of NDC activists to Brazil to
watch the World Cup.
Expressing his uttermost support for Hon.
Yamin's position, he posited that "everybody should expect that the NDC
will get majority over other political parties. It is because that has
been the convention…Suppose we are giving political parties a quota to
the World Cup, NDC will get the majority. That’s a fact. If you want to
run away from that fact, let us all run away from that fact. It is that
simple.”
