Deputy
General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Kofi
Adams, believes the Senior National Football Team, the Black Stars,
could possibly bring home the FIFA World Cup at this year’s tournament
currently on-going in Brazil.
Whiles Ghanaians hope to see the
Black Stars shine at the World Cup by at least reaching the semi-final
stage of the competition, it obvious others may never see its
significance due to the amount of money that has been pumped into the
team’s preparation and subsequent participation.
The Black Stars
kick off their campaign against the United States of America on Monday
in a make or break encounter. Their group has been described by several
pundits as the 'Group of Death' and soccer fans in the nation have
already begun calculating the results and chances of the national team
at this year's tournament.
But to Kofi Adams, who was speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo",
the nation should "all team together and support Black Stars whether
home or abroad. Everywhere you are, you should think Ghana, think Black
Star; think World Cup. It’s possible for Ghana to win the World Cup.”
