Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide
newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr. has lauded former Minister of Finance and
Economic Planning, Dr Kwesi Botchwey over his excellent delivery on the
state of Ghana's economy.
Kweku Baako 'saluted' Dr. Botchwey for giving credence to the economic ideas which was put forward by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr.
Botchwey reportedly stressed the need for the Ministry of Finance and
Economic Planning (MOFEP) to beef up its machinery so as to develop the
country.
“There are problems with capacity that need to be
addressed and that have been noted down at the forum,” he said and
called on the Ministry to employ more competent "hands and also to shore
up the capacity of the existing staff in the area of economic
analysis."
He also agreed with Dr. Bawumia on the economy saying "I offer no rebuttals to his lecture. I do agree with much of what he said."
Contributing to Peace FM's political analysis programme, Kweku Baako Jnr. also expressed his thoughts about the position taken by Dr. Botchwey.
“I
respect him, in fact, I salute him rather for the display of
intellectual honesty in the way he acknowledged Bawumia’s preceding
lecture…The NDC unfortunately look at Bawumia’s lecture through partisan
lenses just because Bawumia was the running mate for the major
opposition party. So, straightaway their reaction was predictable.
“But it was narrow. It was uneducated. I’m sorry to say so. It was non-intellectual.”
