Kwadwo Twum-Boafo, Chief Executive of the Ghana Free Zones Board (GFZB), has strongly warned the leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop "threatening and intimidating" Ghanaians.
According to him, the NPP cannot force down the throat of Ghanaians the desire of the party's flagbearer Nana Addo to be President of Ghana at all costs.
Kwadwo Twum-Boafo, who was commenting on the NPP's request for a new voters' register, urged them to work hard to clinch victory during elections rather than focusing on seeing Nana Addo's "unbridled quest" to be the country's leader by hook or crook become a reality.
He therefore admonished the party not to fuel violence in the country because whenever there's violence, the NPP leaders, members and supporters "run like dogs with their tail between their legs".
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kwadwo Twum-Boafo posited that perhaps want the opposition party should clamour for is "a change of leadership".
“Ghanaians are not going to divine the Presidency of this country to Nana Akufo Addo. He has to work like President Kufour…Anybody who wants to win the Presidency of this country cannot intimidate us, threaten us; “all die be die”, “at all cost”…look when the violence came, it came in your party and you people were running away. You were running like dogs with your tail between your legs and hiding under tables.
“So don’t threaten us with anything because it won’t happen. We’re not afraid. When the violence comes, it will come to your own party. You will throw acid on yourselves, not us. If you want to win elections, go and campaign…maybe what you really need is a change of leadership,” he fumed.
